Did you know that a recent report has shown that kids nowadays are losing the ability to jump, catch and run like they used to before?
Research done by DCU and UCC demonstrated that skills that were normally mastered by 6 years old are now out of reach for many children by the time they reach 13.
There are many reasons behind this shocking discovery, such as the advancement of video games and strict school rules governed by the fear of lawsuits. While before kids had to go outside to release their energy and entertain themselves, nowadays any screen can do the trick right from their couch spot.
In light of that, some schools are starting to bring back outdoor play time for their students, encouraging kids to exercise and master these basic skills. We are also encouraging that by making easy and safe products to help parents encourage that lifestyle.
What do you guys think about this? Should anything else be done to guarantee our kids developing important physical skills?
